Betty Edwards volunteers in the Clothing Department. She began serving at CHC in January 2016 when her friend and fellow volunteer, Carol Talley connected her here.

Betty has 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. One of her favorite foods is pizza. She enjoys reading biographies, and the movie, What about Mary? is one of her favorites. Fall is her favorite season.

Most people don’t know that she was born in Arkansas and raised in California. She didn’t move to Illinois until she got married.

We appreciate Betty and all that she does!

Volunteer Spotlight

Guest Spotlight

Steven and Ruth are very good friends who always come to CHC together. They became friends several years ago when Steven’s beloved dog Lucy died and Ruth helped him find a new pet companion, Katie.

Steven is retired from a now-defunct retailer, and he finds it difficult to cover all his expenses with his decreased pension. “You don’t know what it’s like [to struggle financially] until you go without,” he says.

“The things [CHC] provides makes the difference between someone eating a meal and not eating,” Ruth adds. “The people at CHC are friendly and helpful. They make it all worthwhile.”
