Penny Nickerson was a nurse for thirty years when she became disabled after a bad fall and had complications from surgery. When her rent was raised, she and her husband–who is also disabled–found it difficult to pay all their bills.

A friend advised them to come to CHC for assistance. Penny called and a friendly voice on the other line said, “Come on out here; we can help you!”

Penny was especially grateful to find beautiful clothes that fit her. “Everyone has been so nice and helpful. They don’t make you feel bad about needing help.”

Penny says that her life will never be the same since becoming disabled, but “life doesn’t quit when you get hurt. I’m still here, thanks to God. He takes care of me. God has helped our whole family.”
